Versioning policy
Laravel and its first-party packages follow Semantic Versioning. Major versions are released yearly (roughly in Q1). Minor and patch versions may be released as often as every week. Minor and patch versions should never contain breaking changes. When you use Laravel from your application or package, specify a version constraint such as^13.0. Major Laravel releases contain breaking changes, so omitting a constraint can cause unintended updates. That said, we strive to make sure you can move to a new major version in a day or less.
Named arguments
Named arguments are not covered by Laravel’s backward compatibility guidelines. Argument names may change when necessary to improve the codebase. If you use named arguments when calling Laravel methods, use them cautiously and understand that argument names may change in the future.Support policy
For all Laravel releases, bug fixes are provided for 18 months and security fixes for 2 years. For all additional libraries, only the latest major version receives bug fixes. Also review the database versions supported by Laravel (Database).
